From Judy Harris...
Well, the ink is dry on the results, winners have their medals, trophies, and promised paychecks, and many of us are home now and back to the daily grind. But I wanted to take time this morning to send a shout out and giant THANK YOU to everyone who attended, helped, and supported the Seismic Skate Systems 2009 World Championships of Slalom Skateboarding in Hood River, Oregon. It was an honor to work with such a great crew to put on this event.

Thank you to Gareth Roe who went ahead and threw the CSA hat in the ring to host the Worlds. I thought you were nuts at first, but it's amazing what a small crew can accomplish.

Thanks to Pat Chewning who handled so many critical tasks like the permitting, handling the money and registration, timing, results, writing checks to winners on the spot, and so much more.

Thanks to Claude Regnier for setting exciting courses that matched each venue. I knew you'd be great for this and you were.

Thanks to Judi Oyama and Jimbo for handling the artistic side of our venture. We had great tshirts, posters, and medals thanks to their creativity.

Thanks to Skip Marcotte, Mark Harris, Brad Jackman, John Stryker, Paul Howard,Ian Roe, Nathan Roe and Paul Steiger. You were CSA'rs Extraordinaire this weekend and in all the weeks leading up to this event.

Thanks to Jack Smith who was everywhere we needed him, up and down the course, on and off the internet. Thank you for your support and for Skateboarder's Journal which ante'd up extra cash for fastest qualifiers on Sunday.

The racing was superlative. Holy Cow can you folks make skateboards fly! It was my pleasure to be able to stand at the top of the course and start such amazing athletes down the course each day. To watch the speed with which you all scorch through the cones is truly a pleasure. It's no wonder so many spectators gathered in downtown Hood River to watch and cheer. Who wouldn't once they saw what was going on? Congratulations to the World's overall winners - these were the folks who showed consistency of performance all weekend long through three tough events. You guys rocked it!

Thank you to our generous sponsors. We truly could not have done this without you. We've all watched too many events drop off the calendar in the past couple of years because they lost too much money and the well ran dry. Thanks to wonderful sponsors like Seismic Skate Systems, Sk8Kings, Abec 11, Radikal Trucks, The Sock Guy, and Smart Girls Who Surf. We especially appreciate Dan Gesmer and Seismic Skate Systems who became our title sponsors and helped in so many ways.

I want to send a special thanks to several people though. First, Maria and Richy Carrasco. They were our first sponsors to sign on and show their support for this event. Their passion for this sport is wonderful to watch and their encouragement throughout the planning and the event really helped keep the CSA crew smiling.

Second, all the spouses and families of the CSA crew. They had to spend the last six months living with the lunatics who decided to do this deal. Thanks for their patience with numerous phone calls, text messages, endless to do lists, interruptions to family life, and all that. You guys really are wonderful.

If you were at Sunday's awards ceremony, you heard Gareth say that we have traditionally held this event the weekend following the 4th of July. That means this event will be July 9-11, 2010. As this is the longest running, consistently held slalom event, we are committed to continuing on. See you next year and thanks again to everyone!
