Ok, it doesn't get much cooler than this. Today, while driving in San Luis Obispo I see three young men skating down the street on longboards wearing backpacks and sleeping bags. Being a long distance skater myself, I wanted to know what their deal was. I made a quick u-turn and caught up with them. I'm sure at first they must have thought what the heck does this old guy want. It turns out the three guys I met; Kevin Hanley, Michael Kearns and Eric Jones are pushing their longboards from San Luis Obispo to Seal Beach to raise funds for a summer camp for grieving children called Camp Erin.

Their group is called SkateTreksforCharity.com, please take a look at their site when you have a moment.

ERIC SWENSON R.I.P.

August 4th, 1947 - June 20th, 2011

From Thrasher Magazine website...Ideas come a dime a dozen. People talk, but seldom act. Eric Swenson got things done. Never one to clamor for the spotlight, he preferred the hard work, orchestrating the show from behind the scenes. It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of a dear friend and one of our founders. His mark on skateboarding is extraordinary. Without him there would be no Thrasher Magazine, Independent trucks, or Spitfire wheels, to name a few. He leaves behind his wife Linda and sister Rebekah, along with a tremendous number of admirers.
