woodward is SO ON!!! We have had a busy and productive 3 days here and the kids are stoked that were here. we have set 5-6 different courses and everyone is digging it!! we have hybrid courses, as well as a GS course set and all the gear is dialed. timing system working well and ramps have been re enforced etc. there have been lots of highlights and i will share one....i was talking with Gary Ream (owner) on day one and a sk8 director came over and said "i remember you from last year, are you guys back for another slalom week?".....before i could answer, Gary says " "no, they are back for good" how sick is that? !!! john gilmour is here and has set courses and is helping with getting the program on paper. we are all working as a team to get our "program" as "idiot proof" as possible so that the torch can be handed from current staff to whoever is coming in to relieve them. woodward is truly "a machine" when Gary first told me that (months ago) i didnt quite get it, but totally do now. this massive machine turns on sunday afternoon and doesnt shut down until saturday morning. then there is a mad rush to get it all dialed for the new groups coming in sunday then the machine turns on again.....slalom is now a small working part in this machine!!! we have a lot a sk8 directors that bring the kids they teach to our slalom area everyday for about a half hour or so. we are holding 2 sessions a day. morning from 9:00 until around 1:00 and then a session from 6:00 until dark (its much cooler during the eve session and kids are restless and need something different to do)....we still have a lot of details to get nailed down, but it is all coming together. mike duke and tess have been great!!! they will be here for 3 weeks. JG has been very helpfull in all the course setting and aspects of our program. i wish joe iaco was here , but its better that he heal up and not be tempted by all this place has to offer a sk8r. we have been working together via phone/email and that has been a little frustrating for us both as we work well together on site etc. pretty sure that joe and i will come back for a few days in august when greg fadell and hopefully mitchell are here as visiting pros....it will take a bit to keep them focused on slalom with all the sick ass vert and bowls in perf. vision constantly!!! we have the program fully staffed and thank all that stepped up for this......its all a reality now and we are pretty dialed here at what is the epacenter of sk8 camps!!!! we will expose thousands over the summer to sk8brd racing!! Tony Hawk arrived for a few days a couple of hours ago and is riding at "cloud nine" as i write (big ass halfie!!) i plan to get him out on the course tonight or tomorrow (it is pouring rain at the moment)....the BMX extreme riders were all riding the course yesterday and loved it!! (hands down the worlds best).....also have had filming done for the fuel t.v. show Woodward "day in the life" sort of reality t,v, show which will air soon...i did a full on clambake (with help from tess) for the owner and invited fuel t,v, crew.....they all loved it which made gary look good and in turn, us look good......lots of highlights. i wish i had a park board to ride!!! they have new concrete park area that is surffy and sick!!!!! maybe i can find a non pop stick old school board?? NOT!! we have had no broken bones (yet) and have only had one badass meat meets conctrete accident. i was litterally 3 feet from the crash when the guy went down.....it was amazing!!! he just got up and said "man that hurt" and laughed it of.....no gear, no sympathy, sorry. will try to post again.....HUGE PROPS to PPS, P-TOOL, FULLBAG, SEISMIC, AXE, and all that have helped out with major discounts that have allowed us to get the most (in terms of boards) out of our pretty small ass budget. this is potenially huge for the sport of sk8brd racing!!! peace WRIV
